For me one of the most impressive places is the Plaza de Oriente. It has a lot of secret corners where you can spend an afternoon with good weather. And the best thing is the views. Everywhere you look is worth it: Royal Palace, Opera, royal sculptures, Almudena, etc. 100% recommended 🙂
