What exhibitions can you see today (and this month) in Madrid
Next, we review the Temporary exhibitions which you can visit today and during the 2025 Christmas season at the main museums and cultural institutions of the capital.
Exhibition of Antonio Muñoz Degrain (1840-1924) at the Prado Museum
Until January 11th you have the opportunity to visit the work of one of the most original artists of his generation through a selection of restored and recently reviewed works.
The exhibition offers an overview of his technique, distinct themes (landscapes, figure, idealism) and his place in 19th century art in Spain.
Matisse exhibition at CaixaForum
Until February 22nd you can visit the exhibition “Chez Matisse. The legacy of a new painting"in which a journey through the figure of Henri Matisse and his influence on 20th century art is proposed."
Through some 46 works of Matisse and many other artists who followed him or engaged in dialogue with him, it shows how his exploration of color, form and space later impacted and made him one of the great artists of Impressionism.

Warhol exhibition at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum
Until January 25th you can visit the exhibition “Warhol, Pollock and other American spaces"which brings together the work of Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock, as well as other 20th-century American artists.
Its aim is to rethink the usual narrative that contrasts abstract expressionism with pop art, and to show bridges between the two, for which it proposes to see Warhol and Pollock "in dialogue", not as radically opposite poles.
Works by “other” artists who worked during that period with similar strategies are included: exploration of space, crisis of traditional form, etc.
Raimundo de Madrazo exhibition at the Mapfre Foundation
Until January 18th you can visit the exhibitions dedicated to the work of Raimundo de Madrazo y Garreta and of Edward Weston, which proposes a dialogue between academic painting of the late 19th century and modern photography of the 20th century.
Raimundo de Madrazo (1841-1920) was a prominent Spanish genre and portrait painter, belonging to the "Madrazo saga" of artists, and his style combines elegant realism with Rococo and Japanese influences in his later period.

Trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, and later in Paris, where he lived his entire life, his work achieved great international recognition, with clients in France, the USA and other parts of Europe and America.
In the exhibition you can also see the influences that his grandfather, José de Madrazo, one of the main exponents of neoclassicism in Spain, and his father, Federico de Madrazo, one of the most outstanding portrait painters of the time in Spain, had on his work.
