I'll tell you my opinions, advantages and disadvantages of flying Ryanair, the most important low-cost airline in the world.

Ryanair is possibly the air Line most controversial today.

I have had occasion to fly with Ryanair on numerous occasions over the years, the last time I used this being recent. low cost airline, when I flew from Berlin a Stockholm, and from here to Madrid.

Therefore, I have experience in this regard, especially considering that, mainly for professional reasons, he has flown with many different companies in recent years.

And the truth is that not everyone has had the opportunity to fly with Ryanair, and doubts arise when considering doing so, as is the case of one of our readers, who raises these doubts in the Travel Guides Facebook page.

This has encouraged me to reflect my opinions, with pros and cons, of flying with Ryanair, which you have below.

Advantages of flying with Ryanair

Without a doubt, the great contribution of the low cost airlines, and Ryanair specifically, is the opening in recent years of new connection lines between European cities, and also in Spain.

Thanks to low cost, and Ryanair specifically, we can now fly directly with cheap prices to destinations where it was previously necessary to make a stopover to reach them.

And this advantage is very important in the case of those who live in cities that are not Madrid or Barcelona.

Disadvantages of flying with Ryanair

RyanairFrom my point of view, it is the largest airline uncomfortable to travel, with demands on the traveler that, sometimes, are at least at the limit of what is legal.

Discomforts like 15 kilo limit on checked luggage, the smallest of all the airlines I know (I remind you that the usual is 20 kilos).

And, furthermore, without the possibility of compensate for excess weight of a suitcase, with the lower weight of that of the companion (as happens, for example, with the also low cost Easyjet).

Or very restrictive limits for the hand luggage (55 x 40 x 20 with a maximum weight of 10 kilos), like the special size of bag or suitcase, in which you must also put everything, such as a camera, bags... to only upload one piece.

And the control is exhaustive, with metal baskets and even weighing devices that you will find in all Ryanair check-in lines to test dimensions and weights.

It is true that other low cost companies, such as EasyJet, lately they also require only one piece to board the plane.

Wave obligatory de invoice online and print the boarding pass before arriving at the airport; and if you have forgotten, you will have to pay an excessive amount (40 euros) to issue the boarding pass in the check-in area.

Other disadvantage of flying with Ryanair, as with other low cost, is that possibly the airport you fly to is much further away from a city than the usual one.

For example, if you fly to Stockholm, then Ryanair takes you to Skavska, which is 100 kilometers from the Swedish capital. More travel time and cost.

Are Ryanair prices really cheap?

Although a priori the Ryanair flight prices They are a favorable factor, this has its nuances.

You can get very good prices on unusual routes and by buying well in advance.

But when flying to more popular destinations, where other companies fly, such as London o Roma, Ryanair's final prices are not always the best.

And it is basic to talk about final price, since to the initially announced price we must add other additional amounts which significantly increase the final price.

I am referring to the price for checking luggage (from 15 to 25 euros, depending on the time and flights), for paying with a credit card or for administrative position.

And if when you arrive at the airport you have excess weight in your luggage, be prepared to pay 20 euros per kilo!!

In short, before deciding on fly with Ryanair Compared to doing it with other companies, you have to make sure what the final price to pay will be.

Be careful, you also have to consider the cost of travel to the city destination in the event that Ryanair flies to an airport located very far from the destination city.

My opinions

I admit that Ryanair is the airline I least like to fly with, and that despite the fact that I have never had the slightest incident (delays, bad service...).

If there are other options, I try to avoid Ryanair, even if you have to pay a little more for the ticket.

I will also say that on the last flights I have paid the priority boarding option, because with this supplement you ensure that you avoid the long lines that often occur at Ryanair check-in lines (without the danger of missing your flight).

And, also, not having to stand in line at the boarding gate half an hour later, to enter earlier and find a better seat on the plane and, instead, be able to get in first and choose seats comfortably.

Of course, if on a trip you can only fly with Ryanair, I have no problem doing it. The important thing is to be able to travel, and Ryanair often makes this easier.

And you do you think? I hope your comments.

  • I WORK FOR A MULTINATIONAL COMPANY WHICH INVOLVES SEVERAL FLIGHTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. WE AVOID FLYING WITH RYANAIR BECAUSE THEY NEVER SEND US THE INVOICE FOR THE FLIGHT PURCHASE AND ON DOMESTIC FLIGHTS THEY ARE OBLIGED BY LAW. IT IS THE ONLY COMPANY THAT FAILS TO COMPLY WITH BILLING REGULATIONS.
ADDED TO THIS, IT IS ALMOST NEVER THE CHEAPEST OR THE MOST COMFORTABLE OPTION.

Trip: 2 adults. With 1 cabin suitcase each

Madrid-lanzarote (18/10/2021). Arrival at the airport with boarding pass and they decide that one of the suitcases (with which we have traveled without problems on other occasions) must be checked in. To pay 45 euros.

Lanzarote-Madrid (23/10/2021). Due to technological problems we were not able to check in online. Upon arrival at the airport, we are penalized, in order to fly, with a payment of 135 euros, in concepts,?
The policy of this company in this regard seems to me to be a total aberration.

  • Traveling by this airline is the big scam! First, we spent two hours trying to print the tickets, we had to call 5 times at a cost, if you make a mistake in the name it costs you 100 euros to change it, for 2 minutes of work????? They try to bore you so that you don't check in and have to pay at the airport. The suitcases are never the same size, except for this one. They are scammers and no one does anything.

  • I don't like Ryanair, they are unfair, my husband has always traveled with the same carry-on suitcase. She traveled from Valencia to London with Eassy Jet airline, since we met her we have loved the suitcase, she passed it without any problem and after four days she returned with Ryanair and they charged her 25 Euros for the carry-on suitcase, they are not interested in the customer but to fill their pockets.

  • I traveled a lot with Ryanair but since I met the airline Eassy I still haven't changed it for Ryanair, they are attentive, they take your hand luggage without so much problem; I say this because my husband left Valencia for London on an Eassy Jet flight and the carry-on suitcase that has always traveled with her passed without any impediment. When he returned he did so with Rayana because he had to pay 25 Euros for the hand luggage, something that they are not interested in the client but in filling their pockets.

  • THEY ARE SCAMMERS MY DAUGHTER WHO IS A MINOR AND WAS TRAVELING WITH US BROKE HER ARM ONE MONTH BEFORE THE TRIP I NOTIFIED IT AND THERE WAS NO WAY THEY STILL REMOVED HER CAST ON THE DAY WE FLY BUT AT A LATER TIME SO SHE COULD NOT FLY BECAUSE I HAD A CONSULTATION MEDICAL AND STILL THEY DENIED ME A RETURN OF THE MONEY
DO NOT FLY WITH THEM THEY ARE SCAMMERS

  • In my case, I made a reservation with Ryanair (London – Barcelona) with the names (mine and my family group correct - I have the receipt from the agency and the link where full names and surnames appear). At the time of traveling, my wife's last name appears as her married name (her maiden name appears in her passport). In order to travel I had to pay 110 Pounds and change my wife's last name. I called by phone to correct the error, they told me that I have to do it online, on the website the change is at a cost; I call again and they tell me to send the receipt; I send the receipt and they tell me that changing the last name is at a cost... in short, the trip was more expensive than having booked it on a traditional airline... in addition to wasting time and money on international phone calls...
I hope someone finds my “bad” experience of traveling with Ryanair useful and that they pay attention to these “mistakes” that suggestively happen with the airline.

  • IT SEEMS THIRD WORLD TO ME THAT THEY DESIGNATE YOUR SEATS ALWAYS SEPARATED FROM YOUR RELATIVES, CHILDREN, ETC.. WITH THE EXCUSE OF HAVING TO PAY FOR EACH SEAT.. THEY INCLUDE IT IN THE PRICE OF THE TICKET AND STOP FUCKING...
THAT'S WHY THE OPTION OF FLYING ON VUELING FOR A LITTLE MORE SEEMS BETTER TO ME AND SO WE COLLABORATE WITH A SPANISH COMPANY
