Not long ago I had the opportunity to make a four-day trip to Navarra, which allowed me to remember a similar trip that I took many years ago.
This new trip allowed me to reinforce the excellent memories I had of the beautiful land of Navarre.
Regardless of the various topics that Navarre I have been publishing in recent months on the blog, below I am going to leave you the Top 10 of my trip to Navarra, with highlights described in chronological order.
The best of a trip to Navarra
1.- Tour an old railway path through the Lumbier Gorge, watching the flight of numerous birds of prey through the gorge created by the Irati river.
This is an excursion that allows you to walk through a beautiful natural enclave, where following the old train estuary and passing through a couple of tunnels, you will be able to see the birds of prey in the area.
2.- First experience of to ride a horse traveling a route around the Arbayun Gorge.
Located in the southern part of Navarra, it is the longest and deepest gorge in this community, another ideal place to also go hiking.
This gorge has been created by the erosion of the Salazar River, and is about six kilometers long and up to 300 meters high.
An alternative way to hiking to explore part of it is riding a horse.
3.- Photograph at sunset the beauties Ochagavia houses, in the Salazar Valley of the Navarra Pyrenees.
Perhaps it is the most beautiful town in this northern area of the region, where a walk becomes a delight enjoying the charm of its rural architecture.
Face to enjoy photography, it is undoubtedly at sunset when you have the best opportunity to do so thanks to the west orientation of Ochagavia's main buildings.
This town with stone houses and slate roofs is found in the foothills of the Pyrenees in Navarra, near the Irati Jungle.
4.- Enjoy the beauty panoramic views of the mountains that surround the spectacular Irati Forest, during a tour in a 4×4 vehicle.
La Irati Forest It is the second largest beech forest in Europe after the Black Forest from Germany. and it is a natural enclave of great beauty where you can only access it by hiking or cycling.
On an excursion in a 4×4 vehicle you can cover a small part of it, but you can go up to the mountain areas bordering France.
5.- Discover the historical enclave of Roncesvalles, which he had not yet had the opportunity to visit, seeing the imposing interior of the Collegiate Church of Santa María and the tomb of Sancho VII The Strong.
6.- Make the running of the bulls through the streets of the old town Pamplona, on a normal business day, and without runners or bulls.
Walking through the aforementioned old town in this way does not prevent you from getting an idea of the difficulties presented by the development of this bullfighting celebration that every year puts the Navarrese capital on the world map.
7.- Visit the imposing Castle Royal Palace of Olite and witness how an advertisement is recorded inside with period characters.
This is the most visited monument in Navarra, and the best expression of the great importance that the Navarrese kingdom once had.

8.- Stay in the charming hotel La Joyosa Guarda de Olite and enjoy an excellent dinner.
It is one of those charming little hotels where you like to stay for a getaway.
9.- Visita segway tour, el Bardenas Reales natural park, and in this way discover its most spectacular corners.
In this natural park you will find landscapes that will remind you of Arizona, such as the rock formation castildetierra.
10.- Know the restaurant L and ele en Tudela and enjoy an excellent meal (tuna at its peak and very tasty steak of old beef) with very pleasant attention.
It is a restaurant with a certain Andalusian flavor, but where the main protagonists are the natural vegetables of the area.
Thanks for the blog.
This Easter I'm going to take advantage of the visits you propose.
Very good blog, I congratulate you for all the information.
Well, between Ochagavía and Roncesvalles you will find Abaurrea Alta, also known as the Mirador del Pirineo where we have a beautiful Museum of Steles in the form of an open-air labyrinth, make a note of it for next time! All the best.
