How to visit and what to see in Foz de Lumbier (Navarra)

Did you know that just over half an hour southeast of Pamplona, you can walk through a deep gorge that you fly over griffon vultures and other birds of prey?

This is the Lumbier Gorge, one of the natural places that you can visit on a trip through Navarre.

You will be in a nature reserve which extends for just over a kilometer between the vertical cliffs of the defile created by the erosion of Irati river.

On your walk through this beautiful natural enclave you will have the opportunity to see, in addition to the aforementioned vultures, other birds of prey like Egyptian vultures, hawks o swifts.

For get to the Lumbier Gorge you have to exit the A21 towards the town of Lumbar, and go to the parking lot at the entrance to the gorge.

The simplest thing is to do the so-called short walk, with a route of only 2,6 kilometers, round trip.

What to see in the Lumbier Gorge

This walk follows the path of the old Irati railway, of which you can still see some signage and the poles that once supported the power lines.

This green path Enter the narrow gorge and the path will take you through two sections of very dark tunnels.
