One of the most interesting corners you can visit in the mythical Death Coast, during your trip through Galicia, is the natural enclave of the Anllóns estuary, in the council of Get started.

To do this, it is best to go through the new Caminos do Mar hiking trails that start from the aforementioned town of Ponteceso, and that, if you complete it, you will reach the Punta Roncudo lighthouse, where those that have the reputation of being the best barnacles in Galicia.

These hiking trails They have recently been signposted thanks to contributions from European funds, and are developed through an area that has community environmental protection.

The main route, which is called Riverside Road, begins at the bridge that crosses the Anllóns River, in the town of Get started, Front of Eduardo Pondal's birthplace, Galician poet who was the author of the poem that was used for the lyrics of the Galician anthem.

As you walk, in the first section, along a stone boardwalk that separates the river from the marshes that extend through this area, you will see natural landscapes that a few years ago were in danger of being occupied by a pulp factory.

Little by little the river becomes an estuary that opens and in which lands of dunes, which you can see very well from the top of a wooden viewpoint raised for the therapy. …well you are in an area of great ornithological wealth.

You are in the dune area known as the Insua CoveFrom my point of view, the most beautiful landscapes on this hiking route.

After the turn that Anllóns River Estuary towards the sea, you have a stretch up the side of the mountain, until you reach a point from where you have panoramic views of the Balares beach, a very beautiful natural enclave under a thick forest, which is also the most popular in the council of Ponteceso.

This walk will have taken you a little less than a couple of hours, and you are more or less halfway along this route of just over 11 kilometers.

From there you can head towards the town of Corm, for which you must climb the slope of the mountain To Facha, and you will pass by the beaches of A Ermia, Osmo and Arnela. In Corme you will have the opportunity to visit the Costa da Morte Museum of Contemporary Art, which houses the work of the Coruña painter Julio Pujales.

Or you have the alternative of returning to Ponteceso by Pondolian Route, another four-kilometer hiking route, also of low difficulty, that passes by 14 monoliths that mark prominent places in the work of the Galician poet.

The great attraction of this route is climb to the viewpoint of Monte Branco, from where you have spectacular panoramic views of these natural places of the Anllóns River Estuary, and its dune areas. From this viewpoint you will also have before you the nearby coast of Laxe, another of the enclaves of the Costa da Morte.

If you have chosen to reach Corm and you find strength, the best way to complete your hiking days is get to Punta O Roncudo, an enclave that usually shows the great roughness of the sea, and where a lighthouse coexists with crosses in tribute to missing fishermen, and where you can see colonies of barnacles clinging to the rocks.
