Photos and all the information about the 2016 Cherry Gastronomic Days in the Jerte Valley in Extremadura

The great prominence that cherry trees give during spring to the Jerte Valley, riding a Estremadura, extends until summer during the activities of the Cherry 2016, an excellent time to enjoy the delicious flavor of cherries.

But do you know that cherries can also be an excellent complement in preparing dishes in the kitchen?

The best way to check this is during the Picota Cherry Gastronomic Days that take place during the celebration of the Cerecera, and which three years ago I had the opportunity to taste.

Since June 3 Until July 24 you have the opportunity to enjoy these gastronomic days that in the edition of this year 2016  They take place in eight restaurants in different towns in the valley.

With an offer of menus in which the cherries are the main protagonists in the preparation of the different dishes proposed, for example, in the Los Arenales restaurant From the town of Jerte you can enjoy Iberian pork fillets with cherry sauce.

The menu prices They vary, depending on the restaurants, between 24 and 34 euros.

Without a doubt, these days are a good pretext to visit the Jerte Valley, and have a different vision of this region, beyond the spectacular landscapes of the cherry blossom season.

  • What some impressive dishes. It had never occurred to me that cherries could be used in such a variety of ways. The rice, cod and shark look spectacular. The truth is that one feels proud of the gastronomic wealth of Spain and it is something that should be promoted among tourists who come on vacation.
