In my previous visits to Trujillo, the truth is that I limited myself to seeing his famous Plaza Mayor , something very common among those who visit this beautiful town in the Cáceres province.
In fact, many people only do one getaway to Trujillo to take a walk through said square and eat in one of its restaurants, without spending time taking a leisurely tour of this historic town.
Therefore, like many visitors, I had not had the opportunity to climb to Trujillo castle, which however I was already able to do in one of my most recent trips through Extremadura.

History of Trujillo Castle
Actually, the trujillo castle is a feature Arabic citadel, fortification built between the 10th and 11th centuries on top of the hill known as Fox Hill, under which the town sits.
It is a typical military construction that maintained its primitive structure until the 16th century, and whose current configuration is very simple, although with a succession of towers that in its time turned it into a truly impregnable fortress.
Inside the castle there was only a large parade ground and a cistern to store water.

From my point of view, it is a visit that is totally worth it.
