We loved this part of the parade, since you can see the enthusiasm that the children have when leaving their letter, and that of the parents for continuing with the most deeply rooted traditions of the town.

Although the letter can be left in any of the mailboxes that the donkeys carry, some Alcoyans told us that it is better to leave it in the black donkeys since they bring more luck and you will receive more gifts. Will it be true?

We went by bus since a private car is not recommended due to the collapse that occurs when getting on, since there is no place to park. Another option is to arrive by taxi or on foot.

The camp consists of two tents, The one of the Wise Men, who during the visit you cannot see them to preserve the magic of being able to only be seen on the parade, and the jaima of the Royal Scribe, which is where all the distribution of the packages is organized.

There are also several spaces where you can also see the camels and animals that accompany the royal entourage.

What is the Parade of the Three Wise Men of Alcoy like?

La ride It is undoubtedly the star moment of the party, and for us it was very special.

We had the opportunity to go up to one of the balconies of the Sant Nicolau street, which is the one with historic buildings and facades and leads into the Spain Square, where the last act that closes the party takes place.

La Alcoy parade It is very unique in several aspects.

The Wise Men Melchor, Gaspar y Balthazar They are presented in a different order since Balthazar, “The black king” is the second to parade, and not the last, as in most parades.

  • Before speaking, you should find out why the tradition of painting oneself black is a parade that has been going on for many years. Parents dyed themselves black with charcoal so that their children would not recognize them and would not lose the magic that this celebration carries. with himself and the children, it was never done simulating Black slaves or despising the black race, Chinese, Moors or anyone else, it was simply the way in which they were not recognized.
Please stop having such thin skin, it's no big deal.

  • Because of that rule of three, a straight actor cannot play the role of a homosexual character, by painting yourself black you are not being racist, you are just playing a role, go and hide in your cave but don't come out.

  • That there are people dressed as black men and women is a racist act. Blackface is called and it is one more of the institutional racist acts that exist in Spain.
