All the useful information to go by local train from the airport to the center of Barcelona: schedules, frequencies, ticket prices

If for travel to Barcelona you have decided to use the plane, compared to the alternative of the AVE train, when you arrive at the airport you are presented with several options to go to the city center.

But, from my point of view, if you arrive at T2, the most comfortable and cheapest form of transport is the commuter train.

La commuter train station It is located next to the old terminal of the airport of Barcelona, now known as T2, and it takes 26 minutes to get to the central station Paseo de Gracia.

Barcelona airport train ticket price

And regarding the commuter train ticket price, the airport station is located in zone 4, so the cost of a single ticket (2015) for one journey is 4,10 euros.

However, if in your Barcelona visit you are going to travel by public transport, you have the great advantage of being able to buy the T10 ticket from zone 1 (includes the airport).

This pass costs 9,95 euros and you have 10 routes to also use on the metro and city buses (keep in mind that the price of a single ticket for this same area is 2,15 euros).

Furthermore, given that by paying for a trip you can transfer for an hour and a quarter, when you arrive at the city center you can use another means of urban transport at no additional cost.

In this way, the commuter train option It is cheaper than the express bus Aerobús (5,90 euros one-way ticket; 10,20 euros, round trip) and, of course, the taxi (about 30 euros, depending on the area of Barcelona where you are going).

Airport train schedules

Now, you have to take into account two factors when deciding to use the airport commuter train.

First of all, the train has a frequency every half hour, with a Time in which the first service to Barcelona leaves at 5,42:08 a.m., and the rest, at .38 and .23,38 a.m. The last train leaves at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.

And on the other hand, if you reach the new terminal T1 of Barcelona airport (as happens with flights Iberia o Vueling), to go to the train station you must travel on the transfer bus between terminals T1 and T2, with the consequent delay.

In this case I think it is more advisable the airport bus Airbus to go directly to the city center.

Of course, if you choose go by commuter train from Barcelona to the airport, the transfer to T1 is more comfortable than the other way around.

As soon as the train arrives at airport station, at the same exit (you do not have to cross the overpass) there are three buses waiting for passengers.

The first of them leaves for T1 immediately (very useful if you are in a hurry to catch your flight; in this case, I advise you to travel in the first car of the train to get to the bus quickly). And the other buses, as soon as they are filled with train passengers.

And finally, if you are not in a hurry and are looking for the cheapest price also at the cost of less comfort, you have the alternative of taking the 46 bus line which for 2,15 euros will take you to the Plaza de España, where you already connect with the Metro, although yes, making several stops along the route.

Here you also have the solution of buy the T10 combined ticket, so for just over one euro you get to the center.

    • Liliana, if you arrive at T4, take the commuter train, which takes you directly to Atocha. I remind you that with your AVE ticket you have the code “Combinado Cercanías” that allows you to travel for free on this train.

And if you arrive at another terminal in Madrid, my advice is to go to terminal 4 on the free internal airport bus to take the commuter train.

  • The T10 costs €10.30, this information is old, I don't like the train, it is best to take the 46 (T1 and T2), if you go to T1, and you want to take the train you have to go to T2 and make a path endless to the train, waste of time, the best is a T10, you take the 46, which runs very frequently, to Plaza España and from there the metro to your destination, I live in Barcelona, for me it is the best and fastest, and yes You want to spend more on the Aerobus, but for just over €1 you have the bus+metro.
