“Betting on a quality wine without the consumer having to pay a price beyond what is reasonable”

This is the maxim with which in 2001 the wine cellar Estacada Estate, which I have had the opportunity to discover during my recent stay at your wine tourism complex located next to the vineyards of the town of Tarancon, riding a Cuenca.

After tasting the very delicious wines of this very young winery, a family project Cantarero Rodríguez who until then sold the grapes from his five-hectare farm in bulk, I can confirm that they are managing to fulfill that maxim, which we consumers cannot help but be grateful for.

There is no doubt that the potential for wine production of the grapes that are traditionally grown in these lands of La Mancha has not historically been taken advantage of by producers in the area, with the result of wines of poor quality and a bad image.

Now, for a few years, the wines from La Estacada Estate They have come to totally change the image you may have of Cuenca wine as a popular table wine.

During the aforementioned stay in the hotels La Estacada Estate I have had the opportunity to visit the winery, in addition to tasting the variety of wines.

Thus, with state-of-the-art equipment and the application of the most modern oenological techniques, the wines now La Estacada Estate They are gaining a growing prestige, and at more than competitive prices.

Currently, this young La Mancha winery has 278 hectares of vineyards in which grapes are mainly grown. Tempranillo (with vines with an average age of 25 years), cabernet, Merlot y syrah, But also Maccabee, tight weevil o malbec.

The vineyards that surround the winery and the wine tourism complex are extended with the most effective system of trellises, compared to the traditional glass vineyards of Castilla-La Mancha.

When during the harvest season, as happened during my visit, the grapes enter the winery, the mechanically harvested ones, after passing through the destemmer and crusher, end up in ten tanks located in the open air, where the processing begins. winemaking process.

During a period of 15 to 30 days, fermentation and maceration take place simultaneously.

Once this process is completed, from these tanks the wine that is going to go into barrels is already transferred to them. The winery has 80 percent American barrels, and the rest, French barrels.

The winery also has other smaller tanks where the hand-picked grapes are vinified, which will lead to the production of the most select range of wines.

During your winery visit, then you will be able to see both the rooms where the barrels are located, as well as the wine bottling lines, as well as the rooms where the bottles are stored in the final resting process.
