Curiosities history Viana Palace in Còrdoba

Founded by Gómez Suárez de Figueroa in 1492, after a first stage in the hands of the family Figueroa and Córdoba, from 1704 it became property of the family Fernandez de Mesa, marcheses of Villaseca.

Previously there were several expansions, such as the incorporation of the Stables and patios of the Rejas y the cats.

But it was at the end of the 18th century when an important expansion was carried out with the construction of new patios, such as the chapel, the swimming pool o the hole.

The Saavedra, marquises of Viana, were owners of Viana palace from 1871 to 1980.

In that year the last marchioness, without descendants, before her death sold it to the current Cajastur Foundation after a popular movement in Cordova so that it could be purchased by some public institution.

The last expansion was carried out later, with the construction in 1983 of the courtyard of the Columns.

  • The price of the visit to the palace and patios costs 10 euros on May 18, 2021: it seems like an excessive price to me, especially due to the speed and lack of specificity of the comments of the person who teaches it.
THERE IS NO PRINTED GUIDE IN SPANISH, in order to follow the visit to the facilities, it is an absolute disregard for the Spanish visitor! I believe that CAJASUR belittles Spanish citizens, whether clients of the banking entity or not.
