I like the cities that have miradors from where you can enjoy panoramic views. And if there is a city that has those characteristics, it is Lisbon, the Portuguese capital.

On the banks of estuary of the Tagus River, the central area of the city extends from the Commerce Square through the neighborhood known as the Baixa, where its main squares and avenues are located, such as the Rossio square and liberty avenue.

But this neighborhood is framed, to the north, by the hill where the St. George's castle and the popular spreads Alfama neighborhood, and to the south, by another hill where the upper part of the Chiado and Uptown, the one that is most fashionable in recent times in the Portuguese capital.

On this south side you have a very popular viewpoint among tourists, the one at Santa Justa Elevator, the elevator, especially for tourist use, that starts next to the Rua do Carmo of the Chiado.

But if instead you go up to Uptown on the curious rack tram known as the Santa Gloria elevator you will get to Garden of San Pedro de Alcántara, where there is a viewpoint from where you have beautiful panoramic views of Lisbon, especially at dusk.

Indeed, due to its orientation, from the viewpoint of San Pedro de Alcántara, also known as the Barrio Alto viewpoint, you have excellent panoramic views of the city, and especially of the aforementioned St. George's castle.

This viewpoint is a good alternative if you don't feel like it go up the Santa Justa Elevator. In it you find a ceramic panel that, through a drawing, identifies the main places that you can see.
