We discover where it is and what to see when visiting Cabo de Roca, the westernmost point of the European continent, near Lisbon in Portugal.

In a recent summer, in a period of a few weeks I had the opportunity to successively visit the northernmost and westernmost points of the European continent.

Specifically, I am referring to North Cape, which you find in the Arctic region of Norway.

And the westernmost point of Europe is the  Cape of Roca, riding a near Lisbon, riding a Portugal.

Where is Cape Roca (Portugal)

Indeed, very close to the city of Lisbon (about 40 kilometers away) you can see this last geographical point where I overtake you and you will have proof of the strength of the wind.

El Cape of Roca is a great cliff about 140 meters above sea level, where a monolith reminds you that you are in the westernmost point of the Iberian Peninsula and, in short, of the European continent.

The strong wind that continually blows over this area accentuates the feeling that you are in a strategic geographical point, through which the storms that come from the Atlantic enter.

To the platform of Cape of Roca, in whose vicinity there is a lighthouse, you can reach it by following a path that borders the high cliff.

When you visit this geographical location, I advise you not to get too close to the edge of the cliff as there is an obvious danger that a strong gust of wind will push you into the sea.
