What to see in Brotas, rural architecture in Alentejo

If you are a regular reader of Travel Guides, I'm sure you share with me the passion for small towns and the country architecture.

I declare myself passionate about beautiful townss with charming rural corners, and especially on my car trips I try to discover places like these.

In this regard I will tell you that one of the characteristics of my recent trip through Alentejo in Portugal has been being able to visit several charming towns, among which stand out marvao y Castelo de Vide.

But there has also been no shortage of small villages like the one I present to you now, where the attractiveness of its rural architecture takes center stage. I am referring to Brotas, a village in the municipality of Mora, located one hour north of Evora.

when you get to Sprouts, don't expect a big town where you can take a long walk or climb a castle located on top of a hill. Brotas is a village whose visit is summarized in walking along a cobbled street that takes you to a square closed by the building of a iglesia.

Dedicated to Our Lady of Brotas, this church dates back to the year 1424, and located at the end of said street, it presents the curiosity of showing you on its main façade an altar covered by a portico, which allows you to imagine that in said square they have been celebrated (or are still being celebrated... ) outdoor religious ceremonies.

On the walk along said street and other surrounding streets you have a good example of the country architecture of the Alentejo, with very bright facades with their white color that is combined with the blue that surrounds the doors and windows.

It is worth putting Sprouts on your route, because there you can experience the placid atmosphere of an Alentejo village, a sample of a rural world that is increasingly difficult to find.
