How many times in one route by car You discover places that you did not initially plan for.

That was my case in North Wales trip, riding a Britain, whose first visit was to be the very nice medieval town of Conwy.

But it turns out that the first night I went to stay at Llandudno, very close to the previous one, and where I only planned to rest from the plane trip and, the next morning, go directly to the aforementioned Conwy.

A Llandudno (Gandudno is how it is pronounced in Welsh) I arrived quite late, around 11 at night, and even more so considering that it is Britain.

What to see and do in Llandudno in Wales

I expected to arrive in a sleepy town, even though it was August, but I was surprised that at that time on the main street there were quite a few people around several pubs.

It was undoubtedly a symptom that this holiday village for the north wales coast It had to have a certain atmosphere.

The next morning, with a splendid day, totally sunny, at a first glance I already discovered the great charm of this coastal town, so I decided to delay the Conwy visit and dedicate the morning to walk around Llandudno.

Victorian houses on Llandudno seafront

In this typical holiday village, on whose promenade and main streets the beautiful victorian style houses of the nineteenth century.

Many of these houses house lovely hotels like where I stayed, the Tudno hotel.

The town extends along a great beach which is enclosed by two ropes.

It is not a Spanish-style beach, where you can spend hours lying down sunbathing, but rather a large sandy area suitable for walk during low tides.

On the beach, the characteristic wooden platform of the old spas very common in England, which is introduced into the sea giving the sensation of being a path to the depth.

With a great atmosphere of vacationers walking through the promenade, this long platform 700 meters long will invite you to walk until its end, where you will find a traditional kiosk with bars and game rooms.

On the way you will pass by the Great Hotel, without a doubt one of the most classic of Llandudno.

And you will also be able to see various wooden stalls where they offer everything from clothing to all kinds of remembrances, not even missing the position of a medium.

The wooden dock is located next to the hill known as Great Orme's Head, a natural park where there are ancient mines from which copper was extracted during the Bronze Age.

Lewis Carroll and Llandudno

In view of the Llandudno's charming Victorian style, it should not surprise you that the history of this town in North Wales is linked to Lewis Carroll, Author of Alice in Wonderland.

Charles Dogson, which was his real name, was a friend of the family Lidell, who used to stay in the Gogarth Abbey Hotel.

During these stays the aforementioned Charles I used to entertain the young girl Alice Lidell with stories that had a white rabbit or a mad hatter as characters. Does it sound familiar to you?

The splendid summer day allowed us to complete a pleasant walk through Llandudno.

There you will be struck by the iron-structured, glass-covered galleries that line the bars and restaurants on the main street, which undoubtedly announces that the weather is usually not as good as what we enjoy.
