Today is Sunday and we begin our second day in Washington DCIn our Coast to coast trip through the United States and Canada.

We left the hotel early, at 8,30:XNUMX a.m., and headed directly towards Georgetown, a town near Washington DC.

The route from the hotel has been through roads without much traffic, we imagine that because it is a holiday, crossing a beautiful park, Rock Creek Park, where many people played sports or walked.

Georgetown It is a university city, a population previously separated from Washington DC, but currently absorbed by the capital.

Located on the edge of the Potomac River, has a small port, the Washington harbor, with canoes and some yachts.

La Wisconsin Avenue It is a pleasant place to walk where there are many shops, although today, Sunday, they were closed.

We have walked along this avenue, through the port and through the university campus, which is reminiscent of European universities such as Oxford.

Next we went to visit the Arlington Cemetery, at the other side of Potomac River, where we took a long walk of about three hours!

En Arlington we have visited the JFK's grave, with the eternal flame, where it is also buried Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis (This is indicated by the slab of his tomb).

There is also a baby, the son of the previous ones who lived a short time.

From this place, being located on a hill, you can see a large part of the city of Washington DC, observing the Lincoln memorial, Obelisco, and even Capitol.

We have also visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier where you can see the inscription “Here lie in honor and glory the remains of an American soldier known only to God".

At 11 a.m., we were able to attend the ceremony of the Changing of the Guard.

Afterwards we visited the Arlington House, a building with a great history behind its walls.

On a green, very, very well-kept lawn there are countless tombs with a white marble Christian cross.

There are also others with David's star and others with Muslim symbols.

It really impresses and makes you cringe a little at that environment, which is reminiscent of the Normandy cemeteries.

After picking up the car that we had left in the parking lot of the Arlington Cemetery, We have headed towards the center of the city.

After more than 45 minutes of driving around, we were able to park it in Constitution Avenue, very close to the obelisk.

Being Sunday, street parking is free, which is why it was a bit difficult for us to find a space.

We visited for a couple of hours the American Holocaust Museum, always overwhelming, always sad, always necessary to remember. Important for future generations.

Next we have addressed the Obelisco, known as Washington Memorial, which is located next to said museum.

Full of American flags, from there you can photograph, on the one hand, the  Capitol on the one hand, and on the other, the Lincoln memorial, with all the green fields as a carpet, the sense of grandeur, of spaciousness.

Finally, to the car and the hotel.

The day has been very hot, although ideal for sightseeing and walks.

The powerful air conditioning in venues and museums is the cause of Aurora's cold.
