On the first full day in San FranciscoIn our coast-to-coast road trip through the United StatesAt 8 in the morning we were already having breakfast at the hotel reception waiting for them to come pick us up to do the check-in. Sightseeing Tour by double-decker bus.

They were punctual and we got on a coach, with decoration that emulated a tram and quite open to the outside.

When we had gone a couple of blocks I realized that I had forgotten my camera at the hotel reception.

After almost a month with the camera on my back, I go and forget it!!

Anyway, I had to get off the bus, which would not wait for me since I had to pick up tourists from other hotels, so they indicated the specific address where they would wait for me.

I ran back to the hotel, and with some nice joke from the serious Hindu at the reception, they gave me the photo machine, telling me who had found it and delivered it to the reception.

Without thinking twice, I turned to that gentleman and thanked him for his honesty.

I had to run again through the streets of San Francisco to the hotel where they were waiting for me. Panting, I got on the bus, and after a few minutes we arrived at Fisherman's Wharf, where the tour departed from.

During the journey from the hotel to the departure of the tour bus, the driver told us many funny anecdotes about the city, such as the one assigned to Mark Twain who said in his day: I have never spent a winter as cold as a summer in San Francisco.

Without a doubt, a good reflection of the characteristic microclimate of San Francisco; and the truth is that we were cold.

He also played music and songs about San Francisco on the public address system, like I left my heart in San Francisco by Tony Bennet, If You're going to San Francisco by Scott McKenzie or Sitting in the dock of the bay by Ottis Reading.

Beautiful songs that moved us, because listening to these songs in San Francisco has nothing to do, but nothing, with listening to them anywhere else.

The tour on the double-decker bus, which we were able to listen to in Spanish, lasted about three and a half hours and was quite complete.

We pass through downtown San Francisco and through the different neighborhoods of the city; by painted houses; by Castro, gay neighborhood par excellence; by Mission Dolores, first Spanish mission in the city; by the famous Chinatown Chinatown; by Lombard street, with its very steep slope, decorated with flowers; and from the docks of the bay we could see the distant silhouette of the Alcatraz island.

We also go through the Golden Gate Suspension Bridge, round trip, which was covered with a lot of fog. The bus stopped at Vista Point, from where you can see the bridge with a privileged perspective.

We also saw the great Golden Gate Park, with its varied gardens, its walks, its attractions, its squirrels and its Japanese garden, which we saw from the outside (the next day we visited it from the inside).

At the end of the tour they left us back at Fisherman's Wharf. We ate at a pizzeria right there and took a rickety tram to the hotel.

Subsequently, We drive down the famous Lombard Street, very steep, with its famous zigzagging section.

Of course we stopped, like all tourists, and took the required photos.

The attraction of the street for many tourists is being able to drive their car down the winding part of the street, like we did!

Next we went to Sausalito crossing again Golden Gate.

Sausalito is a city in the San Francisco Bay Area, whose name means “sauzalito”: small willow grove.

Located next to the Golden Gate Bridge, is home to about 7,000 inhabitants and gained a reputation as a colony of artists and bohemians who lived in houseboats on the bay.

After crossing the famous red bridge again, we returned to the hotel, where we had dinner in the room, made the necessary arrangements via the internet, and went to sleep.

The weather was cloudy with sun at certain times, fog in the Golden Gate and a temperature between 13º and 18º.

Quite a cool day when we bought some warm clothes, like sweatshirts.
