In our coast-to-coast road trip through the United States and CanadaToday comes the big day of the visit the Grand Canyon of the Colorado.

After having breakfast on the terrace of the hotel reception, we left towards the South Rim (South rim) of the Grand Canyon.

We travel about 100 kilometers along a road surrounded by immense forests, and after an hour and a half we arrive at the Grand Canyon.

After entering the premises of the national park, we parked the car and headed to the Visitors Center. There we picked up brochures, we soaked up all the information very clearly explained on wall panels, but we already felt the need to “see it at once.”

We walked about 300 meters along some marked paths and finally arrived at the edge of Grand Canyon.

Your eyes were really like a movie camera that was approaching the gorge and that suddenly appeared in all its splendor in front of you.

The only thing missing was some kind of heavenly background music to complete the wonderful picture.

Some of us heard that music although perhaps it was the great silence of past centuries that resonated.

El Colorado's canyon It is a colorful and steep gorge carved by the Colorado River in northern Arizona.

Considered as one of the natural wonders of the world, is located within one of the first natural parks in the United States.

President Theodore Roosevelt was the greatest promoter of the area of the Grand Canyon, visiting it on numerous occasions to hunt pumas or to enjoy the impressive landscape.

On our visit the weather was miserable all day, with rain and winds and sometimes calm moments.

The truth is that perhaps it was necessary to hide so much beauty so as not to go blind.

We did the complete basic tourist route, about 12 kilometers round trip, along the rim of the Grand Canyon, enjoying every second and following the different exposed stones that marked a path that reaches up to 2,000 million years of geological evolution of the earth.

The rainy day put the possibility of making a trip out of our minds. helicopter tour for all this natural scenery, which although it would have been expensive, would have been worth doing on a sunny and clear day.

There are several possibilities of go on excursions, from going down to the Colorado River, to camping and trekking or cycling tours around the river.

The problem at our age is that what you walk down has to be climbed later and, unfortunately, we are no longer up for these jogs.

So much wonder for the eyes and senses also required us to take care of our stomach, so we decided, as a necessary extra, to eat at the restaurant of the hotel El Tovar, almost on the edge of the Grand Canyon.

We ate fantastically, with several beers per capita to settle so many emotions.

Whenever we have talked about this meal, we remember the great service that the waiter offered us, a non-Hispanic American gentleman (miracle!), very professional who advised us and served us perfectly.

We traveled in silence the almost 100 kilometers that connect the Grand Canyon with Williams, opening our mouths sporadically only to continue showing our surprise at what we had seen.

Upon arriving at Williams We attended a street performance of typical western scenes, with actors in the appropriate clothing, with a boy, a girl, a sheriff, a gunman, shots fired, dead people, which was funny.

A child in the audience was wearing a Barça t-shirt.

After resting a bit in the motel room, we completed the day with a nice, long walk through the town of Williams, which was really very lively.
