Our next stage of Coast to coast trip through the United States and Canada takes us from Edison to the Lancaster County, already in Pennsylvania, with the aim of visiting the amish community.

We arrive to Lancaster around 13 p.m., and after making a brief stop at the motel, we visited various places in the area, such as local craft centers, such as Amish crafts and culture.

The Amish They are a Christian religious group of Anaptist doctrine known, mainly, for their simple lifestyle, their modest and traditional clothing and their resistance to adopting modern comforts.

In total there are around 230.000 people, distributed in 22 settlements in the United States and Canada.

In our visit to Lancaster County We attended an interesting show, between theater and cinema, that lasted about 40 minutes, and that addressed the Amish generational problem.

Of course we have traveled the small roads that wind between a large number of farms, most of them Amish.

The environment is idyllic; green landscapes, farms, roads with cars, places where time seems not to have passed, although a little too touristy.

The Amish They live on farms scattered in a non-only Amish environment.

They live alongside the rest of society, but they have their own schools and their own churches.

They are pacifists and have a strong and deep-rooted sense of community, with great solidarity among them.

They follow very strict codes of conduct, religion, customs and dress, and do not use any elements of progress that are obvious to us, such as electricity, TV, radio, zippers, tractors, cars, etc.

However, little by little, perhaps very little by little, the strict amish culture It is being absorbed by the environment.

You begin to see Amish people working as clerks in businesses, some begin to wear fashionable sneakers, sell their products and also rent their cars for a tourist tour of the area.

We have been able to confirm in these two days of stay in the USA the great patriotism of the people, which is shown, for example, with American flags on houses or stickers on cars in memory of the troops.

The American people are aware that they are currently at war (USA is in war, they say) and that their children are fighting.

They don't miss any opportunity to remember him and show their pride!
