This has been the visit to the Cadillac Ranch and Santa Rosa near Amarillo, on the old Route 66 through Texas

After our visit of Palo Duro Canyon Park, back to Yellow our we lost to explore some typical residential streets of this city.

I admit that we continue to be attracted to visiting the various American residential areas.

Already in Amarillo, in our Coast to coast trip through the United States we resume the Historic Old Route 66 towards the west, which we will not leave until Phoenix in Arizona and, later, we will resume until its end at the pier of Santa Monica, riding a Los Angeles in California.

Route 66 in this area shares routes with Interstate 40.

After getting lost for a while, this time for real, we finally managed to find the famous C.

It is a place where there are ten old Cadillac cars half buried in the ground.

To locate them, I indicate that you will find them on the south side of Route 66 (I 40), about 9 miles west of Amarillo.

El C It was built in 1974, following the idea and instructions of Stanley Marsh, a millionaire thanks to the helium industry, and owner of the dusty wheat field where said Cadillacs are placed.

Marsh and The Ant Farm, an art collective from San Francisco, assembled used Cadillacs representing the Golden age of American automobiles (1949 to 1963).

The Car 10, decorated with graffiti, are half buried at the front, facing west “at the same angle as the pyramids of Cheops”.

This place, whose access is free, has become very famous, and on the ground you will see many cans of graffiti paint. It has been a let's say “funny” experience.

We ate en route in a Dairy Queen, an establishment run exclusively by ladies of a certain age, all very friendly.

We continue our route and when we reach Santa Rosa, we take a tour of the town.

Santa Rosa It is mainly a place of passage and rest.

The town is small and has about 500 resident inhabitants.

There are a large number of motels, hotels and restaurants, since it is a semi-touristy place because it is in the Ruta 66.

Then we also visited Santa Rosa Lake, about 10 miles from the town, a beautiful place.

After 5 days and 4 nights we have left Texas, a state that we liked a lot. It occupies a large plain and in general the high economic level is noticeable.

Texas It gives you a great feeling of spaciousness, long, quiet roads, few vehicles, peace, harmony, in the surroundings of beautiful and generous nature.

In some areas of the route you can see oil extraction pumps, which channel it into pipes that lead to storage tanks.

How to Live Aligned with little anecdote of the day, in the museum store Palo Duro Canyon A lady screamed like hell when she thought she had gotten in the way of a photo I was taking. She has apologized very, very much.

While I told her not to worry, that nothing was happening, that I would take another photo.

Her husband told her that with that scream she had everyone scared, which was true: we were scared to death.

Today we have covered the first 3,000 miles (4,827 kilometers) of our trip. Great day, clear, sunny, hot, but pleasant.
