What is the experience of a Roadtrip through the United States and Canada?

Today is the last day of our road trip by car that has taken us in a Coast to coast trip through the United States and Canada, and of our stay in New York.

After closing the suitcases and leaving them ready, we go to have breakfast at our usual place. Then we take a walk, the last one, through what has been our area for the last week.

At around 11 in the morning we take down the suitcases and do the check out at the hotel.

Through our friend Jesús, the head of the porters, we easily got a taxi to take us to the newark airport.

We are supposed to negotiate a good fixed price with the taxi driver, we give him a tip and we leave for the airport, which we arrive in about three quarters of an hour.

Without problems we go through all the procedures, we eat some sandwiches in the Heineken bar from the airport, we bought some t-shirts and, at the scheduled time, we boarded and left.

Tras 64 days We can say that the trip has been fantastic, that we have seen many fantastic places, that we have enjoyed the “make the way", that we have not had any mishap of any kind, that the hotels have been very decent, that our health has respected us, that Aurora and I have passed another very satisfactory trial by fire as a couple (together for 64 days, without separating, with 18,118 kilometers by car, etc…) and we would like to repeat it!!!!!!!

In short, it has been a tremendous and fantastic experience and, furthermore, throughout the entire trip we have not had any type of mishap.

The police and sheriffs They have not stopped us once in the 18,118 tours; The reservations made, always via the Internet, have worked perfectly; The hotel rooms and their breakfasts have always been as we expected, or even better.

The only thing worth mentioning is Aurora's cold and some small itches on my legs. Otherwise, without any health problems.

As for security, not the slightest problem.

People have always been very kind, even beyond what was correct.

It is true that, in general, we have moved through safe areas and we have never felt the sensation of insecurity.

We have left some visits or activities for a next time (not everything can be covered), such as, for example, attend a play on Broadway, visit the parks of Yosemite y Yellowstone, San Diego, the northern part of Canada and the southern Atlantic area of ​​the United States.

But we have been able to get to know a large part of these two enormous countries.

The relationship between Aurora and I has grown as the miles have increased.

Our loneliness on the road and our constant and permanent company for 64 days in a row (to which we must add the following 30 days that we were in Costa Rica) have not allowed us to get even closer.

We have stayed in 35 hotels and motels for 64 days and 63 nights; We have had 64 breakfasts, 64 lunches and 64 dinners.

We have crossed 25 states in the United States (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington DC, West Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana , Ohio, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York) and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec.

In total we have traveled 18,118 kilometers by car.

But, above all, we have had sensations, smells, flavors, landscapes, inner harmony.

In my opinion, this type of trip, this road trip, It can only be done currently in the United States, Canada and perhaps Australia.

Other countries or areas do not have a similar road infrastructure, nor such a quantity of road supply. roadside motels and hotels, which are much cheaper than those you find in the cities, and also have free Wi-Fi and parking, and spacious rooms with double beds.

You also have restaurants of all types, perhaps without special quality, but varied and at affordable prices.

On the other hand, and in our opinion, the roads, highways and highways are very well signposted, they do not give a feeling of being overwhelmed.

The separation between the lanes in both directions is very wide and gives a feeling of placidity.

Also, these roads e interstates They are well integrated into their environment, closer to the landscape and towns (unlike European motorways), which is equivalent to saying that you can enjoy the landscapes better by driving on European motorways.

We have seen a beautiful, prosperous, healthy America. I suppose there is also the other side, like everywhere, but we haven't seen that. vivid.

Finally, remember that, above all, a journey of this type is essentially a journey into our interior.
