For our Coast to coast trip through the United States, when organizing the daily habits, we had already excluded the restaurant selection with a certain name. But there is still a double aspect to consider.

First of all, we had to decide what the option of restaurants What were we going to use the most, if going to establishments where we must place and pick up the order at a counter, such as the type  Taco Bell, Subway o McDonalds, or choose to sit as one Sirs and wait for them to come serve us.

In general, on our trip we prefer the latter type of restaurant, how are the Dennys, Fridays o Applebees.

In the latter case, you must remember to leave a tip, which amounts to between 10 and 20 percent of the bill, depending on the level of service received, which is generally very good and friendly.

A feature of these restaurants in the United States The thing is that, as soon as you sit down at the table, they serve you a large glass of fresh water with ice for each one, which is very appreciated during the summer season.

Another peculiarity is that in most establishments you only pay for the first glass of soft drink (Coca Cola, Fanta...) you drink; The others who serve you (or you serve yourself) are free.

Second aspect to consider: we have to decide if we want have a beer o no.

In this respect, the spectrum closes, and in many places where you stop to eat, you will have to settle for a soft drink full of ice.

The best way to know if they sell beer in the establishment is to look in the windows that face the street: if they serve beers, you will see illuminated signs advertising beer brands such as Bud, Corona o coors.

Logically. Irish pubs serve beer (Guinness y Murphy's, the most common ones) and some others restaurant chains also, like Fridays y Dennys in Canada, but not in the United States.
