In our Coast to coast trip through the United States, after taking a morning excursion through the Monument Valley, today we start heading towards Williams, our next home for two nights.

Williams It is located about 110 kilometers from Grand Canyon, but it is where we finally booked the hotel given the high prices of hotels near said national park.

Our entire journey was through the Ruta 66, where at first the landscapes continued to be very arid, to gradually change until reaching large forests and mountains.

On the way we stopped to eat at Tuba City, right on Route 66, to go to a restaurant recommended in the guide that Dolors carried.

It was called Hogan and we ate very well. The property belonged to Navajo Indians and, like the day before, the food was good, abundant and, yes, without alcohol.

Later we stopped for a couple of hours at the city of flagstaff.

Located in northern Arizona, it has a population of around 65,000 inhabitants.

The name of the city of Flagstaff It comes from a flagpole or flagstaff in English) of ponderosa pine erected by an expedition of Bostonians, known as the Second Boston Party, to celebrate the centennial of the United States, July 4, 1876.

Flagstaff has a strong tourism sector, due to its proximity to grand canyon national park, Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona and historic Route 66.

We really found the city very welcoming, with a lot of commerce, cafes, original shops...

It is a tourist city, but not only tourist. It also gave us the feeling that it would be nice to live there, surrounded by mountains and forests and lakes, in those wooden houses.

After having a few beers on a terrace of a kind of pub/restaurant we continue Heading to Williams.

Around 19 p.m. we arrived at our motel, well located in the center of Williams, a very touristy town where everything is Route 66.

With a population of about 3,000, it is next to the highway Interstate 40.

Due to its location near the South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park, Williams It is an important tourist stop, with many inns and motels, as well as some gas stations with decoration from the 50s.

The town is really very lively, with small concerts in bars and on the street.

There are also many souvenir shops exploiting the brand. Route 66.

After settling into our rooms, we went for a long walk through the town.

We also took the opportunity to buy dinner in a supermarket.

As a curiosity, Dolors and Miquel's room was a room completely decorated with children's motifs on both the sheets and the duvets, chairs and paintings. Crowd of bears.

We keep wondering what they saw in Miquel and Dolors!!

In short, a very complete day with Monument Valley and surroundings, road route, food in a Navajo restaurant, Flagstaff, large forests, Ruta 66 y Williams.

The temperature of the day was very pleasant and varied from 35º in the morning to about 23º in the afternoon.
