When you face a trip like the one made by United States y Canada, a long road trip Coast to coast and return, organization is very important in the typical development of our traveling days.

In this regard, I am going to make some considerations about how we organize and what were our main daily habits during our trip through the United States.

How and where to eat

To start the day, in the vast majority of hotels the room price already includes a breakfast not very sophisticated but sufficient.

sometimes they have waffles that you can do yourself. Aurora became an expert in using the special toasters where these products are prepared.

At noon, We almost always went to one of the numerous and varied establishments American restaurant chains, and never in more or less select restaurants, both for economic reasons and for personal philosophy.

So, we normally ate in the Dennys, Fridays, Applebees, Grizzlies, irish pubs, Taco Bell, Subways, McDonalds, etc.

Of course, keep in mind that the vast majority do not serve alcohol, including beer.

After a long day of sightseeing, on the road, or walking, what better than a Budweiser fresh or one coors, so to enjoy it, you had to look for establishments that advertise beer brands with bright neon exteriors.

The scenes We generally ate them in the hotel room, with salads and sandwiches accompanied by cans of beer.

To do this, we used to look for hotels with a refrigerator in the room, apart from the fact that most have both soft drink and ice vending machines.

Washing clothes

To avoid wasting time going to public laundromats, we decided to wash our clothes ourselves daily in the hotel room.

In addition, it allowed us to reduce the size of the luggage beforehand.

Visits to museums and tourist attractions

For economic and time reasons, obviously you have to select well in advance which museums and visits to make, which means giving up numerous places.

Car rides

In cities and towns we liked to take a drive through the center (downtown) of the city, where you can see the large skyscrapers that form the skyline.

We also like it a lot get lost by car through the various residential areas to see first-hand what the houses and neighborhoods where the inhabitants of this country live are like.

night out

We generally didn't go out at night.

Only in some cities (Nashville, Memphis, Williams, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Niagara, Montreal y New York) we go out to dinner or see live concerts.

Photos and daily notes

In order to be able to later write a travel chronicle in book format, and also publish it on the site, every day we spent time making notes that served as a summary of the day, while we took a large number of photos.

DOWNLOAD the EBOOK BOOK of the ROAD TRIP COSTA a COSTA

In addition to being able to follow the different stages of the coast-to-coast road trip through the United States and Canada through the blog, you have the possibility of having all the information compiled in a single document.

To do this, download the ebook book “18118 kilometers through the United States and Canada”.

  • Hello..it was nice to read your comment. This November I'm going to Miami for a few months with a friend... after a month there we want to travel by car to San Francisco. I know it's a very general question... but what did you like the most... and what fundamental advice do you give me? Thank you in advance and best regards. • Dear Salvador, I read your comments and I relive the beautiful trip that my family and I took two years ago. On that occasion, it was a Miami – Los Angeles “road trip” where my favorite cities were Santa Fé in NM and San Francisco, as well as, of course, the wonderful parks and reserves like Yosemite, Mesa Verde or Monument Valley.
We agree practically on all the habits that you carried on the trip, although my madness included a baby of a year and a half and a girl of 4!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if I recommend traveling with such small children, but I don't regret it since it was a magnificent trip!!! Greetings and a very good and traveling year!!!
