More security measures at airports in the United States

The new rules and security measures for flying to the United States, with greater controls for travelers, force us to go to the airport three hours early

If you are preparing un tourist trip to the United States, you should know that since January 4, 2010 they have come into force new security rules at airports, following the new attempted terrorist attack on a plane flying to that country.

These new measures are specified in a exhaustive control at airports in the access of citizens of certain countries (Sudan, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Saudi Arabia...) to planes bound for the United States, a control that will be extended randomly to other travelers.

The agency in the United States in charge of transportation safety, the TSA, indicates that travelers should not take any additional action regarding our luggage in relation to the already existing limitations.

However, these new security measures They assume that to fly to the United States we must go through a high tech scanner, in addition to being pending to attend to the possible request for a body check or of a conscientious inspection of our hand luggage.

Therefore, it is recommended that this luggage be as small as possible.

The result is that access at the airport to the boarding of a plane that is going to fly to the United States is substantially delayed, so airlines, such as the Iberia case, they are advising us to go to the airport at least three hours before the scheduled departure time.

Apart from minimize hand luggage, billing as much as possible, it is also requested that, to avoid delays, we go as soon as possible to the boarding gate where the exhaustive control is carried out.
