This was our walk through the Guggenheim and other museums on Fifth Avenue and Central Park during our visit to New York

New day in our New York visit, last stage of Coast to coast trip through the United States.

After having breakfast in our cafeteria, we took a walk around the area.

We saw from the streets the imposing mass of the Empire State, which we had not yet had to visit.

Before following our New York route, we went into a pharmacy to buy some products to heal my wounds, although at night, with the talcum powder, the compeed, some creams with aloe and, above all, Aurora's care and patience, he was now much better and ready to start a new day as a tourist.

La profession as a tourist is really hard, we jokingly think.

From the hotel we took a metro to the northern area of Central Park, already in Harlem, and we began a long and beautiful walk towards Fifth Avenue.

This large urban park in midtown Manhattan, with its characteristic rectangular shape, is the most visited in the United States, and thanks to its numerous appearances in films and television series, it has become one of the most famous urban parks in the world.

On a walk through Central Park you can see several artificial lakes, two ice skating rinks and extensive meadows used for various sports activities.

It is also a popular oasis for migratory birds, making it a popular spot for bird watchers.

We walk through a large part of the park, border the large lake, and see many people doing sports.

There are places in Central Park from where, incredibly, no buildings can be seen. It also occurs in Hyde Park en London.

Towards the center of the park we exit along Fifth Avenue and walk along it.

Luxurious buildings are concentrated in this area, all with a doorman and the typical entrance awning to these very high-priced homes.

The cars that are parked in the surroundings do not detract from the area in any way and we can see, among others, a couple of Rolls Royce.

La Fifth Avenue It is one of the main arteries of downtown Manhattan. Filled with luxury apartments and historic mansions, it is a symbol of New York's economic strength.

The section of the avenue between Calle 34 and Calle 59 It is also one of the most exclusive shopping areas in the world.

We pass in front Mount Sinai Hospital, which was founded in 1852 for the Jewish community of Manhattan.

Currently serving residents of the Upper East Side y Harlem, one of the most prosperous and one of the most depressed neighborhoods, respectively, on the island.

This fact causes the social mix that characterizes the hospital, which happens to be one of the most expensive and advanced in the world, but at the same time it has numerous beds for people without resources.

As a curiosity, I will tell you that, among many other high-profile professionals, he works at Mount Sinai. Valentin Fuster, Spanish cardiologist of international renown, as director of the cardiology area.

Near the hospital is the Jewish Museum of New York, the premier Jewish museum in the United States. With more than 26.000 objects, it contains the largest collection of Jewish art and culture outside of Israel's museums.

Another of the museums that we find along Fifth Avenue, on the edge of Central Park, is the New York Guggenheim.

It is the first of the museums created by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, dedicated to modern art.

It was founded in 1937 and is the best known of all the museums of the aforementioned foundation.

In 1959 it moved to the place where it is now, when the building designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

The project caused great controversy, so the museum took 15 years to be built, being completed 10 years after Guggenheim's death and six months after the architect's death.

The building itself became a work of art.

From the street, the museum building looks like a white ribbon rolled into a cylindrical shape, slightly wider at the top than at the bottom. Internally, the galleries form a spiral.

Thus, the visitor sees the works while walking along the helical ramp, like a walk.

In 1992 the building was complemented by adding a rectangular tower, taller than the original spiral. This modification of Wright's original design also generated strong controversy.

The Wright building has been the victim of some criticism from artists who feel that the building overshadows the works displayed there and that it is difficult to properly hang the paintings.

The museum is truly spectacular from the outside and inside, and it seems incredible that a design from so many years ago seems modern today. Genius stuff.
