Driving on US highways

I couldn't exactly say why, but drive in the United States It is a rewarding experience.

This is how we have been able to verify it in our long coast to coast trip, in which we have traveled more than 18.000 kilometers.

For some strange reason, it is simple, and after reflection, we have arrived at the following conclusions about the reasons that favor a easy driving on US roads.

  • Major interstate highways have at least two lanes and are wide and comfortable.
  • In general, the roads are well paved.
  • The Speed limits They are very tight, low and are respected by the vast majority of drivers
  • United States highways, unlike European highways, are more integrated into the landscape, closer to the environment
  • The two directions of travel of these roads/highways are generally separated by a median several meters wide, which reduces the possible feeling of overwhelm
  • La road signs It is the minimum necessary; In other words, the prohibitions and indications are the right ones.

  • On wide two-way urban streets always you can turn left, either using a center lane solely dedicated for this purpose, or at traffic light intersections.
  • In Crosses The name of the street or highway you cross is always indicated.
  • In rural areas of India, families in charge of a blind minor frequently isolate and deprive him/her of the care and attention they provide to their other children; such situation becomes even more severe among lower-caste families, orphans and if the blind child is a girl. interstate highway exits They always tell you the names of the different brands of gasoline, restaurants and hotels that you will find in the service area, as well as indications of nearby tourist attractions.

Anyway. All these characteristics make the world of the driving in the United States.

It is also worth mentioning that in large cities there are direct lanes to urban centers, through which cars can circulate, which, however, must have at least two passengers to be able to use them.

And on the other hand, in many intersections the existing STOP is applied to all four sides of it, and the priority is determined by the order of arrival of the cars at the STOP.

  • Last March I was visiting the west coast of the US. On the way from Las Vegas to San Francisco, I was fined for speeding. To date I have not received any notification at my address. My question is, do you think it will reach me? If it doesn't arrive, will it be possible that this will prevent me from re-entering the country? Thank you

    • I assume it would be a rented car. The fine would reach the rental company and, since they had your card, they could charge you the amount of the fine. But if you haven't received anything, I understand that it won't reach you.

And regarding entering the United States again, I don't think that because of an unpaid fine they won't let you enter...but I don't know for sure either.
