Discover the best to see and do when visiting the historic city of Kingston in Canada, with the experience of our coast to coast trip

After a good breakfast at the hotel, we began our route towards Ottawa through, for a change, a beautiful road surrounded by green landscapes, with forests and running alongside Lake Ontario.

Halfway there we decided to detour towards the city of Kingston, a new milestone in our Coast to coast trip through the United States and Canada.

Kingston It is a historic city located halfway between Toronto y Montreal, at the eastern end of Lake Ontario, where the lake empties into the St. Lawrence River and where the beautiful area known as the Thousand Islands, Along the Rideau Canaldeclared Heritage awarded by the Unesco.

A Kingston She is also cited as the Limestone City (limestone city) due to its many historic buildings built with that type of gray stone of local origin.

On a fairly relaxed day, we have been walking along the shores of the lake, enjoying a park where the Murney Tower, a fort from the time of the British occupation, some century or so ago and where, curiously, the Union Jack.

The ride was rewarding and relaxing.

We believe that the blue of the lake, the green of the grass dotted with trees, the other blue tone of the sky, the white of some cloud and those lonely benches looking towards infinity, is the best therapy for many loneliness, tiredness and discomfort.

Some modern sculpture had just given a different touch to the landscape.

From our walk along the shore of Lake Ontario we returned through the interior streets, where we found the characteristic comfortable houses of middle-class Canadians.

A large hospital undergoing renovation was close to where we had left the car.

There were quite a few people for a Friday morning. They were jogging, pedaling a bike, or simply walking the baby or the dog.

And the time has come to continue our route to Ottawa, Canada's capital, where we arrived at lunch time.

The hotel was on a central street, in an old “old-fashioned” house.

The room was on the third and top floor of the rear building, overlooking a park. The hallways and stairs, intricate, illogical and with many S's, led us to an attic-type room.

All very romantic.
