One more year it is celebrated again in Barcelona el Chinese New Year, which on this occasion is dedicated to dragon.

Surely you know that the Usera neighborhood has become the real Madrid's Chinatown, where the community of that country resides and, for nine years, has celebrated the Chinese New Year.

Previously, this celebration took place in the center of the city, with a parade along the Arenal street, and ending in the Spain Square.

 
 

Dates of the Chinese New Year 2024 in Madrid

This is this year 2024 , the dates of celebration of the Chinese New Year in Madrid are from 2 to 29 for February, with various acts and events in the aforementioned Usera neighborhood.

Now, there are two key moments if you want to experience this event with the Chinese community.

On the one hand, the Chinese New Year Festival which is celebrated the sábado 10 de febrero.

From 18 p.m. in the temple Pradolongo Park You can attend a musical show, ending at 20 p.m. with the show Fireworks.

Chinese New Year of the Dragon Parade

At this party you can enjoy music that fuses Eastern and Western traditions, which will be played by the DJ Yang, a regular at Asian parties.

The other big event, and without a doubt the most popular, is the pasacalles that will be developed by Marcelo Usera street, which is celebrated on 11 Sunday of February starting at 12 in the morning with a duration of approximately three hours.

What does the dragon represent to the Chinese?

In this Chinese New Year the great protagonist is the Dragon, a mythological animal that is considered the most important in China among the twelve animals in the eastern country's horoscope.

It is interesting to know that for the Chinese the dragon is an animal that protects the land and people, and a symbol of power, good luck, strength and health.

 
 

More than a thousand people will participate in the parade open to the public, remembering the main street of Usera in a great visual spectacle.

Of note is the participation of troupes from Chinese community associations dressed in costumes that reflect the culture of the Asian country, and with traditional dances.

It promises to be a very colorful show, in which the participation of elves, acrobats, stilt walkers and floats with Chinese decorations are also announced.

During the parade, dragon masks will also be distributed to the public.
